Activision Blizzard announced in its most recent earnings report that Diablo 3 had sold over 10 million copies as of 30th September. It was the top-selling PC game in both dollars and units in the U.S. and Europe.
The publisher said it had three of the four top-selling games in North America and Europe this year with Diablo 3, Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure, and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria.
According to the NPD Group, Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure has been the best-selling game in North America when one includes its accessory packs and figures. The figures sold well enough on their own that they outsold all other action-figure lines in the first nine months of 2012.
Elsewhere, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria sold 2.7 million copies in its first week.
Looking ahead, it was confirmed that Starcraft 2’s Heart of the Swarm expansion won’t be released until the first half of 2013. It is currently in beta.
The company revealed its Q3 revenue to be $841 million, surpassing its prediction of $740 million and its Q3 revenue last year of $754 million.
CEO Bobby Kotick added, “Skylanders Giants is off to a great start and next week the company will release Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which we believe will be one of the most successful launches of any form of entertainment in history.”
