It surely won’t come as a shock, but Tokyo Game Show has become the latest event to call off its physical show in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Originally slated to happen from the 24th of September at Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe, this trade show has now joined numerous others in making the switch to an entirely online event. “Due to the global outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the unpredictable situation in Japan as well, the organizers and co-organizers, after much deliberation, have decided to prioritize the health and safety of the visitors, exhibitors, and stakeholders above all else,” stated the organizers CESA, Nikkei, and Dentsu in a joint statement on their website (thanks, VGC). “We ask for your kind understanding and cooperation.” They promised more details would be provided in due course. A number of gaming events worldwide have already been canceled due to COVID-19, such as GDC, Gamescom, and E3. Paris Game Week, which was supposed to take place between the 23rd and 27th of October, was also recently postponed. Ever wondered what it’s like to attend Tokyo Game Show?
