A gentle adventure into a family’s secrets that’s nicely crafted but over before it really begins. Tess, a teenage protagonist, discovers and uncovers a family mystery as she explores her grandma’s house. Open Roads offers a pleasant gaming experience with high production values. The environments are vivid and lifelike, but the characters have limited animation. The vocal performances are notable, especially with notable actors. The moment-to-moment uncovering of the mystery is engaging, leading to mature family realizations. However, it feels like something is missing – perhaps development time could have been better utilized. Overall, it’s a nice day out, but not particularly memorable.
