Thimbleweed Park, that point-and-click adventure game crafted by Ron Gilbert from the Monkey Island series, now has a sequel. Sort of.
Gilbert has come up with a mini standalone follow-up featuring the character Delores, set one year after the main game’s events.
This follow-up was initially designed as a prototype for Gilbert’s new game engine, but it gradually evolved into a project to keep him occupied during the lockdown.
“As I’m writing this on the 9th day of May in the year 2020, the pandemic is far from over,” Gilbert wrote in a blog post over the weekend. “Different people deal with isolation, fear, social distancing, and hoarding toilet paper in different ways. I built a game. It really helped me stay sane.”
Delores: A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure is now freely available for download via Steam and Epic Games Store. Or you can take a peek at it through the trailer below.
