Just as promised, Microsoft has showcased the very first batch of Xbox Series X gameplay footage from a wide range of third-party titles set to launch on the console during its “holiday 2020” and beyond. We’ve previously highlighted some, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, The Medium, Dirt 5, Call of the Sea, and Chorus. But for the sake of completeness, here’s everything else that was shown.
The Ascent, developed by Neon Giant and published by Curve Digital, is a solo and co-op action RPG exclusive to Xbox Series X. Set in the rain-soaked, neon-lit streets of The Ascent Group arcology, a corporate-run metropolis, players must navigate looting, shooting, and body modifications to restore order after the city’s automated security systems go haywire.
Bright Memory: Infinite is an “all-new lightning-fast fusion” from FYQD-Studio. In 2036, the Supernatural Science Research Organization investigates a futuristic metropolis in search of answers. The eye-catching action unfolds with slide-y, slash-y, and shoot-y gameplay.
Scarlet Nexus by Bandai Namco is designed by former members of the acclaimed ‘Tales of’ series. It’s set in New Himuka in the far future, where humans have developed extra-sensory powers. Protagonist Yuito Sumeragi and others battle to defend the planet from deranged brain-chomping mutants.
Scorn, developed by Serbian studio Ebb Software, has been making the rounds for years. It offers a first-person adventure with a mix of puzzles and shooting, known for its striking, unsettling aesthetic inspired by artist H.R. Giger. Eurogamer’s Ian Higton wasn’t initially impressed with the game beneath the visuals, but improvements may have been made since.
Second Extinction is a co-op first-person shooter from Systemic Reaction, part of the Avalanche Studios Group. Teams of three go online, prepare weapons, and defend the Earth from mutated dinosaurs. Players choose missions, customize their load-out, and start the dino-slaying mayhem. Spoils can be used to upgrade and start anew.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 from Paradox Interactive resurfaces with a grotesque new trailer. This sequel to the cult classic 2004 action-RPG has Hardsuit Labs taking the reins. Players become newly turned thinblood vampires in 21st Century Seattle.
