Big news has hit the world of Mortal Kombat 11! The gory fighting game is getting a story expansion, a first for a NetherRealm title, along with three new playable characters. One of them is none other than RoboCop, from the movies. Complete with Peter Weller’s voice and likeness. In a preview call, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon described RoboCop’s addition as kind of like the bookend to the Terminator with the 80s action movie stars.
The story expansion, called Aftermath, is set to release on 26th May digitally for all game versions, including Nintendo Switch and Stadia. It picks up right after Lui Kang destroys Kronika and is about to create a new history. But Shang Tsung, played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, shows up with Fujin and Nightwolf, claiming their actions will doom us all. They form an unlikely alliance to head into the past and steal the crown from the sorcerer’s island before the hourglass shatters. The story is a fun and Mortal Kombat-esque setup, with lots of action. And it features some of the franchise’s biggest characters in their biggest roles yet.
Three new playable characters are added: Fujin, Sheeva, and RoboCop. Fujin, who has been playable before, uses his sword and crossbow and the power of wind. Sheeva is the four-armed Shokan queen, a master brawler with various grapple options. And RoboCop, making his series debut, is great at keeping foes at bay with his iconic Auto 9 pistol and other weapons. There are also three character skin packs to be released over time.
Mortal Kombat 11 gets a free update with fan-favourite stages and the return of stage fatalities and friendships. Kano uses his eye laser to cook sausages on a barbecue and Noob Saibot spawns two copies of himself for a unique interaction. There’s a Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection with all characters, story content, game modes, and preorder bonuses for £49.99. You can upgrade to Aftermath for £34.99 or get the Aftermath plus Kombat Pack bundle for £39.99, with the Eternal Klash Skin Pack at launch. So, it’s time to relive the memories of this iconic 80s movie with RoboCop in Mortal Kombat 11. Check out the amazing scenes!
