Rockstar has unveiled the initial post-launch update for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. This exciting development comes as a relief to gamers worldwide.
Title update 1.02 is now accessible for the GTA Trilogy on a range of consoles, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One. The availability of this update is a significant step towards enhancing the gaming experience.
Rockstar’s patch notes page specifically mentions the 1.02 update being released for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, delving deeper into the patch notes themselves, it becomes evident that fixes are intended for “all platforms”. Intriguingly, there is also a solitary fix related to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
The Definitive Edition, crafted by Grove Street Games, made its debut last week. Unfortunately, it faced a wave of criticism due to various issues such as progression crashes, bugs, subpar performance across all platforms, and a multitude of art concerns. As Digital Foundry aptly stated: “The crux of the matter is that it’s unimaginable to believe that this remaster underwent proper testing. And if it did, it seems that the bugs were left unaddressed by the developer. The ultimate outcome is simply not satisfactory, and this is truly a pity. This is a landmark game and a genuinely significant piece of work.”

Last night, Rockstar expressed its apology for the “unexpected” technical issues that have been plaguing the GTA Trilogy. The company has promised to bring back the classic versions of the games for sale on PC and make them available for free to the owners of the remaster. Rockstar stated that it has “ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game”. With each update, the games are expected to reach the level of quality that they rightfully deserve.
