Persona 5 is set to make its grand entrance in Europe, with Deep Silver taking on the role of publisher in this region. This announcement comes as a genuine shock, considering that Persona’s developer, Atlus, is under the wing of Sega, a company that already has its own European publishing operations.
The news is truly unexpected. After all, Sega, the owner of Atlus, has an established European publishing arm. However, Deep Silver, the renowned publisher behind titles like Saints Row, Dead Island, and Homefront, has inked a European publishing agreement not only for Persona 5 but also for several other Atlus and Sega titles.
Deep Silver will be responsible for bringing out both the physical and digital versions of Sega’s 7th Dragon 3 Code: VFD, as well as Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei 4: Apocalypse and Persona 5.
Here is a rather unremarkable statement from Naoto Hiraoka, the CEO of Atlus USA, Inc., and the senior vice president of publishing at Sega of America:
Atlus, which has had a somewhat tumultuous relationship with European gamers, went a bit further in its press release to announce the deal:
As of now, we don’t have a specific release date for Persona 5 in Europe, but it is slated to hit the US in February 2017. Hopefully, it won’t be a lengthy wait before Persona 5 makes its way to European shores.
