Capcom has declared that the online play of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be region-locked. This piece of news initially emerged in a Spanish GameReactor interview, and subsequently, Capcom affirmed it on its official forums.
“I’m truly not excited about the servers being divided,” stated Capcom community specialist Yuri Lindbergh. “I’m undoubtedly conscious of the demand and feedback, not merely in this thread, but also from previous ones before learning these unfavorable news. Rest assured that I will convey this. However, there’s no guarantee that this situation will be altered.”
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U will be operating on Nintendo’s servers, and the reason for the region lock remains unclear. We have requested Capcom for a comment and are currently awaiting a response.
Regrettably, the 3DS version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate won’t support online multiplayer at all – a pity considering that online 3DS games typically support cross-region play.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is slated to arrive in Europe on 22nd March and in North America on 19th March. A demo is anticipated for both platforms on 21st February.
