Square Earnestly Desired to Recoup Their Investment
Recommended Videos
Square Enix essentially staked everything on Final Fantasy XV.
Before its release, they diversified their offerings by creating a film and multiple spin-offs. The fact that it sold five million copies on the launch day indicates that most of these efforts seem to have been successful.
But now that we’ve caught a glimpse of yet another spin-off and a port, it’s the opportune moment to review everything this colossal sub-franchise has presented to us thus far, excluding minor development alterations such as the addition of a New Game+ and similar features.
- Platinum Demo: Final Fantasy XV (new story)
- Episode Gladiolus DLC
- Episode Prompto DLC
- Episode Ignis DLC (to be released in December)
- Holiday and Booster packs
- Brotherhood anime
- Assassin’s Creed crossover event
- Comrades multiplayer expansion
- Justice Monsters Five, a pinball mobile spin-off that ceased service earlier in 2017
- A King’s Tale beat ’em up spin-off
- King’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon spin-off
- Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire mobile spin-off
- Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV movie
- Prompto VR spin-off (canceled)
- Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV spin-off
- PC Port with all DLC (to be released in 2018)
- Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition (possible Switch port)
- A Final Fantasy XIV tie-in event similar to the one for XIII
- Noctis to appear in Dissidia
- Noctis to appear in Tekken 7
- The Sims crossover costumes
- Ardyn DLC
- Aranea DLC
- Luna DLC
- Noctis DLC
It’s truly an extensive list, isn’t it? I wouldn’t be astonished if we were to witness Final Fantasy XV-2 at this juncture. And although I could do without the majority of the side projects, I would actually embrace that possibility.
