Tomorrow morning, an exciting new update for Gran Turismo 7 will be arriving early. It will bring three brand-new cars that were previously hinted at, along with the unexpected introduction of a track that is completely fresh to Polyphony Digital’s series.
Watkins Glen International is a crucial part of the US racing landscape. It once hosted F1 races until it was considered unsafe following a series of tragic fatal accidents. Now, it’s a somewhat rundown place that welcomes events like IMSA and NASCAR. Driving either of the configurations available in Gran Turismo 7’s version of this track is an absolute thrill.
There are also three new cars. Among them are two Suzukis, including a new fictional ‘Vision’ car and the legendary V6 Escudo Pikes Peak Special. (Now, wouldn’t it be great if Pikes Peak were included in the game, considering Gran Turismo has held the official license for the legendary course for some time?)
Elsewhere, you’ll come across the powerful 1932 Ford Roadster. Another pleasant surprise is the addition of three new menus in the Gran Turismo Cafe. This effectively extends the single-player experience as you are assigned the task of collecting Toyota 86s, Honda Type Rs, and Rotary Engined-vehicles.
Gran Turismo 7 was launched earlier this year. It received some praise for returning to the series’ roots, but it also drew criticism for its awkward handling of microtransactions and its punishing in-game economy.
