Square Enix’s remake of Final Fantasy X has burst back onto the scene after more than a year of lurking in the darkness. It made a spectacular appearance at a Japan-focused Vita Heaven event, which showcased upcoming releases for the handheld that’s been facing some challenges.
Back in 2011, Final Fantasy X HD was first announced at TGS. Since then, there hasn’t been a peep about it until now. Despite the game making an appearance today, there’s still no word on when it will be released. However, we did catch the briefest of glimpses of it in action, with a few character models being flaunted. Famitsu was quick on the draw and managed to snag a few screenshots of FFX HD in action.
Elsewhere at the event, it was filled to the brim with a variety of Monster Hunter clones that have already been announced for the console. Many of these have a slim chance of making it beyond the borders of Japan. Perhaps the most intriguing of them all is Dragon’s Crown, the visually stunning side-scrolling RPG being crafted by Vanillaware. It follows in the footsteps of the Saturn favorite Princess Crown and the developer’s own Muramasa: The Demon Blade.
The biggest headline, though, is the price cut for the PlayStation Vita that’s set to take effect at the end of the month. Will we hear similar news at the PlayStation meeting in New York this Wednesday?
