Netflix has unveiled the captivating opening credit sequence for its highly anticipated anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. This thrilling sequence made its debut at the Anime Expo 2022 in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. Accompanying these opening credits is Franz Ferdinand’s ‘This Fffire’ from 2004. Here’s a fun tidbit for your next pub quiz: This isn’t the sole piece of game-inspired media to feature this song. The previously released and self-produced ‘This Fire’ can also be discovered on the soundtrack of Burnout 3: Takedown.
But let’s get back on track. Focusing on Edgerunners and its fresh credit sequence, which you can explore for yourself below.
Netflix characterizes this series as “a standalone, 10-episode narrative centered around a street kid striving to survive in Night City – a future metropolis obsessed with technology and body modification. With everything at stake, he manages to stay alive by transforming into an edgerunner – a mercenary outlaw, also recognized as a cyberpunk.”
Last month, the company not only shared an exciting new trailer but also some additional bonus footage from its forthcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners show. The trailer presented a diverse blend of neon lights, warfare, and motorbikes (we surely can’t overlook the motorbikes).
In the meantime, the brief clip that was shared provided us with a closer examination of Night City’s notorious Maelstrom Gang in all their anime splendor.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is set to premiere this September on Netflix.
CD Projekt Red is collaborating with Rafał Jaki to produce the series. Simultaneously, the original score will be masterfully composed by Akira Yamaoka, renowned for his work in Silent Hill.
