Fall Guys has been taking the world by storm, and the development team Mediatonic has disclosed some of the forthcoming plans for this beloved, non-violent battle royale. However, they admit that it will require some time to determine how to incorporate features such as custom lobbies and crossplay.
“It’s still in the early stages, but it’s a demand we are well aware of,” Mediatonic’s Joe Walsh stated to The Loadout when questioned about custom modes like private lobbies. “Fall Guys is essentially a TV show, and people aspire to be the directors, to run their own shows. We definitely understand the desire for this, but it will take us a bit of time to figure out the precise details. Nevertheless, it is on our to-do list.”
Regarding the introduction of crossplay to unite PC and PS4 players?
“Regrettably, there are no new updates on this front,” Walsh conceded. “We remain committed to it. In fact, I believe our commitment is even stronger than before. We observe that Fall Guys is bringing together individuals who don’t typically play multiplayer games. Hence, if we can enable people to play with friends as soon as possible, that would be great. It is of significant importance to us as a studio.”
Fall Guys sold 2 million copies within a week on Steam and has also become a hit on streaming platforms. The game has witnessed numerous tie-ins, such as with Portal 2 and Team Fortress 2, and a mobile version is on its way in China.
Naturally, the soaring popularity also brings an increase in the number of troublemakers, which has prompted Mediatonic to outline their plans to deal with cheaters.
