Paradox Interactive has announced today that the highly anticipated Stellaris: Cosmic Storms expansion for the sci-fi strategy game is set to grace the PC realm on September 10, 2024. This new expansion brings along a plethora of exciting new technologies and edicts to help players deal with the emerging threat posed by the brand-new Cosmic Storm as well as introducing the all-new Storm Chaser origin and two captivating new precursor stories.

When it comes to Stellaris, storm systems already exist within the game. However, with the advent of the Cosmic Storms expansion, a total of 8 new types of Cosmic Storms have been added. These replace the existing Space Storms and will randomly spawn across the game map. The diverse new Cosmic Storms include Electric, Particle, Gravity, Magnetic, Radiant, Stardust, Shroud, and Nexus. Intriguingly, these storms will not stay static but will automatically grow, shrink, and change speeds as they traverse the galaxy.
Alongside the awe-inspiring storms, there is the brand-new Storm Chaser Origin. This is an empire of individuals who are driven to push themselves beyond their limits. Consequently, they seek enlightenment by boldly engaging with the fierce Cosmic Storms that the universe sends their way.
With the introduction of the Storm Chaser Origin comes three new civics: Astrometeorology, Storm Devotion, and Environmental Architects. These offer unique gameplay opportunities and strategies. Additionally, there are two new precursor stories that delve into the fascinating tales of the Ancients, those once-vast masters of the storms – Weather Manipulators and the adAkkaris Convention of Benevolence. Completing each of these narratives will unlock a special new relic.
Stellaris: Cosmic Storms will be available on PC via Steam on September 10, 2024, at a price point of $12.99. It forms a part of the Season 8 Season Pass and will also be added to the monthly Expansion Subscription for Stellaris.
