Today, Microsoft has initiated the advertisement of a fresh and more affordable price for Xbox One in the UK – a remarkable £299.99.
Xbox One is being advertised for £299.99 on Xbox.com.
Previously, the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of the console was listed at £329.99.
Microsoft UK is presenting the new price as a retailer promotion rather than an official price reduction. Nevertheless, this is the identical terminology that was employed back in September when the console’s price last decreased.
“This is an exclusive retail promotion for the UK,” a Microsoft spokesperson informed Eurogamer. “It provides excellent value for fans who are eager to purchase an Xbox One before the release of the highly-anticipated games of 2015, such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, and Batman: Arkham Knight. Additionally, it includes Xbox exclusives like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6, and Halo 5: Guardians.”
This marks the fourth occasion that Microsoft has decreased the console’s cost since the Xbox One was launched in November 2013. At that time, it was priced at £429.99 and came bundled with Kinect along with a complimentary copy of FIFA 15.
Following the console’s first Christmas and in the run-up to the launch of Titanfall, Microsoft UK initially reduced the console’s price to £399.99.
Subsequently, the Xbox One became more economical once again, dropping to £349.99, when Microsoft introduced its Kinect-free bundle.
Then, in September last year, prior to the launch of Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Microsoft lowered the Xbox One’s price to £329.99.
The PlayStation 4 was launched in the UK at £349.99, and this price has remained unchanged.
