Sega has made an exciting announcement: Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom is on the horizon!
Hardlight, the creator of the first Sonic Dash (to which we gave a score of 6 out of 10 back in 2013), is once more taking on the development responsibilities for this mobile endless runner.
A few months ago, Sega conducted a soft launch of Sonic Dash 2 in selected countries. Since then, they have been working on enhancing the interface and the tutorial, as they stated. Sega has pledged that the sequel will offer “more content, more action, and more challenges, all conveniently fitting into your pocket.”
Here’s what our reviewer Rich Stanton had to say about Sonic Dash 1, which achieved an astonishing 100 million downloads: “There is indeed a good game lurking beneath the surface, and there’s sufficient nostalgia to temporarily veil – at least to some extent – the irritating commercial aspects. These days, Sega seems to struggle to create a truly decent Sonic game. And then they come out with something like Sonic Dash – which, with just a bit more refinement, could have been excellent, but instead is rushed and marred by greed. I have no doubt that it will generate a substantial amount of money. It also makes one ponder how some characters evolve with the times, while others fade into obscurity.”
Soon, Sonic Dash 2 will be accessible worldwide for free download.
