The Terra Nil team has unveiled its first significant update, titled Vita Nova, which is now accessible on both PC and Netflix. Additionally, a Switch version is in the pipeline.
The environmental strategy game’s update released today is complimentary and encompasses several new levels. Among them are Polluted Bay and Scorched Caldera. The Terra Nil team characterizes Polluted Bay as a “dead landscape bisected by a severely polluted river”. Conversely, Scorched Caldera is described as a “vast volcanic crater that you must transform into a life-abundant freshwater lake”.
In addition to the new levels, Vita Nova has introduced enhancements to the map. The developer asserts that not only is the map now 3D, but it can also be rotated freely.
Meanwhile, the team mentioned that the revamped wildlife system, which they deem as “dramatic”, will enable the transformed landscapes to “exude a greater sense of vitality than ever before”. This implies that animals like the freshly introduced jaguar will roam more naturally and have “a more profound set of requirements to fulfill”.
Thanks to this update, nine new buildings have been incorporated into the game. You can view a trailer for Vita Nova in the video provided above.

“Even when Terra Nil makes choices that I don’t always appreciate, I appreciate the fact that it makes these novel and ambitious decisions,” Ruth Cassidy stated in Eurogamer’s Terra Nil review.
“Beyond merely the gentle atmosphere it seemingly implies on the surface, Terra Nil offers engaging puzzles, a comprehensive dedication to what an environmental city builder could potentially resemble, and lingering instances of genuine perfection.”
