Rogue Legacy is set to be freely accessible next week via the Epic Games Store.
And joining it in this offer will be The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.
Both these games can be downloaded for free from the Epic Games Store between the 7th and 14th of April.
Rogue Legacy is a “genealogical rogue-‘LITE’ where anyone has the potential to be a hero.
“Each time you meet your demise, your distinctive child will take your place. One child might be colorblind, while another could be a dwarf suffering from vertigo. But that’s perfectly fine, as nobody is flawless, and you don’t need to be in order to achieve success.”
In Donlan’s review of Rogue Legacy, he described it as a “gloriously ingenious dungeon crawler”, awarding it a recommended emblem.
“Rogue Legacy is full of wit, elegance, and a touch of cruelty. I’ve spent the past week attempting to determine whether my feelings towards it are primarily love or hate, and I’ve finally made up my mind. I’m certain that I love it.”
Meanwhile, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter adopts a much more somber tone, with players entrusted with solving the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the titular Ethan.
Just like Rogue Legacy, Eurogamer also bestowed the recommended badge upon The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, with Tom Bramwell deeming the game “truly exceptional.”
“The Vanishing of Ethan Carter leaves you with several astonishing memories; moments that you’ll be eager to discuss with your friends for hours and will go to great lengths not to spoil for others.”
These games will replace Total War: Warhammer and the Arabian Nights-themed first-person roguelite City of Brass.
Earlier this year, Epic Games released statistics on the growth of its store in 2021.
The PC marketplace saw an increase of 34 million registered users in 2021, reaching a total of 194 million, with a daily active user peak of 31.1 million.
