Sony has made an announcement about several officially-licensed wired PlayStation 4 controllers. Among them, one catches the eye as it bears a resemblance to a Nintendo Switch Joy-Con.
The Nacon wired compact controller, Hori wired mini gamepad, and @Play wired compact controller are all set to hit the shelves just in time for Christmas. Sony claims that Nacon’s compact controller is a fantastic choice for younger gamers and those who prefer a more compact grip. It comes equipped with a 3-meter-long cable and boasts an LED on the front that can display in-game information, such as your player number or health status in compatible games.
@Play’s compact controller showcases a two-tone design and also comes with a 3-meter cable.
It is Hori’s mini gamepad, however, that truly stands out. Its unique design reminds us of a Joy-Con. This charming controller saves space by reducing the DualShock 4’s touchpad to the size of a button. (You can simulate a variety of touch pad gestures using both sticks.)
For the sake of comparison, here is a picture of the Joy-Con placed on my desk.
Sony stated that Hori’s gamepad, which will be available on November 6th, is “an ideal introductory PS4 controller for young players” and described its design as “retro inspired”. Are you interested in it?
