Supermassive Games has postponed the launch of Little Nightmares 3, stating that it requires “a bit more time for preparation”. In a declaration posted on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, the developer of The Dark Pictures expressed that “even though [it] is eager for you to return to the Nowhere”, “quality is of utmost importance” and that is the reason it has decided to “reschedule the game’s release to 2025”.
“Ever since the announcement of Little Nightmares 3 at Gamescom last year, we have been excited to witness our community filled with enthusiasm and anticipation,” the team mentioned. “Just as we are impatient for you to return to the Nowhere, we also aim to ensure that we bestow upon the game the attention and affection it merits. Quality holds a top position for us, and we are aware that you share the same sentiment.
Please be patient with us, dear ones, as we need a bit more time to prepare for your arrival.
Rest assured, we pledge to give you a warm welcome. #LittleNightmares III pic.twitter.com/fqxsOPzkFD

“For this cause, we have made the choice to move the game’s release to 2025.” The statement concludes with the assurance that more details will be provided “later this summer”, and thanks the fans for their tolerance and “continuous support”.
Announced in August, Little Nightmares 3 marks the first instance where a main series entry in the franchise will not be managed by the original developer Tarsier Studios. Supermassive Games – the team behind The Dark Pictures Anthology and Until Dawn – is in charge, leading players on an adventure with two new protagonists. Regrettably, although the two protagonists can be played through online co-op, local co-op will not be available.
“Co-op was the most requested feature by our fans, so it was truly crucial for us to provide it to them,” Bandai Namco producer Coralie Feniello stated when the game was announced. “I truly believe that it will add an extra dimension to the game by allowing you to experience it with a friend.
“But simultaneously, we genuinely desire the player to experience it as they prefer. That is why we maintained the single-player option, so that if you do not engage in online co-op, you would be able to play with AI by your side.”
