Ex-staffers from Monolith, the renowned studio behind F.E.A.R. and No One Lives Forever, have come together to establish the six-person indie team, Blackpowder Games. They have unveiled their debut title, Betrayer, an enthralling black-and-white-with-red-all-over first-person horror adventure.
Set in the year 1604 in Virginia, players take on the role of an aspiring colonizer who arrives in the New World, only to discover it teeming with ghosts and ravenous, bloodthirsty conquistadors. To survive in this nightmarish wilderness, players must utilize rustic 17th-century technologies such as muskets, crossbows, and throwing axes.
Despite being announced just today, Betrayer is set to make its appearance on Steam Early Access next week on August 14th. How astonishingly fast! Take a glimpse at the striking infusion of eastern horror and the American frontier in Betrayer’s debut trailer below.
