Swedish developer Fatshark has unveiled the initial gameplay footage for the sequel Warhammer: Vermintide 2, affirming that Chaos is the novel faction while Skaven will also make a comeback.
More significantly, Fatshark explicitly stated that Vermintide 2 will “NOT”, in capital letters, feature loot boxes. “Loot is derived from gameplay, not from your wallet,” Fatshark poster Hedge declared on Reddit.
All five heroes from Vermintide 1 will reemerge, but this time they will be capable of specializing in one of three ‘hero classes’. Consider them as subclasses. For instance, Bardin the Dwarf can be played as a slayer, but in doing so, he will not be able to utilize shields.
There will be novel weapons, and in the gameplay footage, the Waywatcher showcases one of them, a spear, with a bloody and squelchy impact.
Furthermore, the loot system has been revamped, there’s a fresh UI, there are new locations and enemies, as is evident, and there is support for mods and dedicated servers.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is slated for release in Q1 2018 on PC. There are no indications of console versions as of yet.
There’s a brief Q&A from the Vermintide 2 reveal stream on Reddit, along with other snippets of information if you desire them.
