The Death Star: An incredibly brilliant concept that the Star Wars films have revisited thrice. It’s making its way to Star Wars Battlefront as paid downloadable content on September 20th, and there’s finally a gameplay trailer to showcase it.
The most captivating aspect are the new spaceship battles, which truly take place in space! They’ve been a conspicuous absence from Star Wars Battlefront since the beginning, but now they’re finally here, complete with all the glitz and charm that EA DICE excels at.
The space battles constitute a crucial part of Star Wars Battlefront’s new Battle Station mode that’s being introduced in the Death Star DLC. It’s a three-phase mode that commences with spaceships, then transitions to on-foot combat, and finally returns to spaceships for the iconic ‘trench run’ from the 1977 Star Wars film A New Hope.
There’s also a plethora of new details released about the new heroes arriving in the Death Star DLC: Chewbacca and Bossk.
Chewbacca sounds astonishing. His bowcaster is far more potent than the constantly adjusted Star Card bowcaster. His sci-fi crossbow initially fires only one explosive bolt, but for each trait level he ascends, he shoots one additional bolt – up to a maximum of four. Coupled with his multi-bolt ability, which temporarily doubles the number of bolts fired, and at his peak, he could be unleashing eight-bolt volleys. Wow!
Those four aiming pips…
Chewbacca can also let out a roar or a warble or whatever that distinctive sound he makes, and temporarily enhance the ally soldiers around him to a level-three Berserker effect with high armour. Chewie will also gain armour and increased damage, while ally Heroes will only receive an armour boost. Chewie can also smash the ground and inflict damage on those nearby.
Bossk, the lizard bounty hunter, on the other hand, has the ability to heal himself! He recuperates when he eliminates soldiers or significantly damages a Hero. He has a temporary predator mode when he activates heat vision, featuring faster cooldowns and increased sprint speed; his Relby-v10 can switch into micro-grenade mode; and he possesses an escape leap ability that leaves a super-powered Dioxis bomb in his wake. Incredible!

The Death Star pack is the third installment of paid DLC for Star Wars Battlefront, following the decent Bespin DLC in June and the less impressive Outer Rim DLC in March. But arguably, the best addition to Star Wars Battlefront to date has been offline multiplayer.
The Death Star DLC also comes with five new maps, new weapons, and Star Cards, and is available either separately for £12 or as part of the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass, which typically costs £40 but is currently discounted to £24 on PS4.
