The Persona series has allegedly achieved a remarkable sales figure of over 15 million copies.
In an investor’s report, Sega Sammy discloses that within the period from March 2020 to the conclusion of the fiscal year in March 2021, the beloved franchise has managed to sell nearly two million copies.
The primary Megami Tensei series, from which Persona is a spin-off, of course, has reached a sales milestone of 17.7 million copies. However, Sega Sammy notes that these figures encompass pachislot and pachinko machines as well.
PersonaCentral, however, highlights a minor inconsistency. As the same report indicates, the series had sold three million copies, and some of the timelines provided extend beyond the end of the fiscal year. For example, Persona 5 Golden has achieved a sales volume of one million copies as of June 2021, and Persona 5 Strikers has sold 1.3 million copies as of April 2021. Thus, it becomes challenging to make direct comparisons. Nevertheless, it is evident that Persona’s popularity shows no signs of diminishing in the near future.
In case you missed it, Persona 5’s Morgana is a playable character in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania as paid-for post-launch DLC. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania was released earlier this month and incorporates the party games Monkey Target, Baseball, Tennis, Racing, Fight, Bowling, Golf, Billiards, Soccer, Shot, Boat, and Dogfighting.
“There is an abundance of goodness here that effortlessly counterbalances the not-so-good aspects if you are already a fan of Persona 5. And I am quite certain that if P-Studio were to create approximately 5 more sequels, we would eventually attain the ideal version of Persona 5,” stated the Eurogamer’s Persona 5 Strikers review. “There is simply an excessive amount of everything, ranging from plot strands to enemies to confront and food to consume, that I had an excellent time while simultaneously feeling rather exhausted by it all. Though that is just the nature of video games for you.”
