Take-Two Interactive has made the decision to shut down 2K China and has called off Borderlands Online, the free-to-play offshoot of Gearbox’s shooter that was intended for the Chinese market.
Located in Shanghai, 2K China had approximately 150 staff members.
“We are thrilled about the prospects of expanding our business in Asia, and we are still dedicated to providing top-quality offerings for that region. At this moment, we can affirm that we are closing 2K China,” Take-Two stated in a declaration to GamesIndustry.biz.
“We concluded that the extra time needed to complete the current projects at the studio, especially Borderlands Online, would not result in a favorable return on investment.”
