Sky Sports will employ team-specific crowd noise from FIFA when the Premier League makes its comeback.
The highly anticipated return of Premier League football commences on 17th June after a 100-day break due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, it will proceed without spectators as officials abide by strict social distancing regulations.
We’ve witnessed some countries filling empty stands with cardboard cutouts of fans. But when we’re tuning in to the Premier League on television, we’ll also be treated to faux chants, courtesy of the FIFA video game.

Sky Sports declared that EA Sports had crafted customized and team-specific crowd noise and chants “to replicate the lively atmosphere of Premier League encounters, ensuring fans don’t miss out on the noise that accompanies the action”. You can choose the Sky channel to watch with the additional sound or without it. Sky Sports did not indicate whether EA Sports had recorded Chelsea’s celery song for this initiative.
“We desire Sky Sports viewers to still experience it all and have the most optimal viewing experience – even if they can’t be in the stadiums or watch with their family and friends,” stated Sky Sports managing director Robert Webster.
Sky’s Premier League coverage recommences with a double-header featuring Aston Villa vs Sheffield United and Manchester City vs Arsenal. Sky Sports will broadcast 64 matches – 39 exclusively for subscribers and an additional 25 accessible on Sky’s free-to-air channel Pick.
