Volition Games, the studio renowned for its contributions to the Saints Row series, has been shut down “with immediate effect” as a part of the parent company Embracer Group’s previously disclosed “restructuring” plan.
Volition, which commemorated its 30th anniversary earlier this year, declared the closure in a statement shared on social media, stating, “This past June, Embracer Group announced a restructuring program to fortify and sustain its position as a leader in the video game industry. As a component of that program, they assessed strategic and operational objectives and made the arduous decision to close Volition with immediate effect.”
The statement further mentions that Embracer is “endeavoring to offer job assistance and facilitate a seamless transition for our Volition family members”. The action is likely to impact approximately 340 individuals based on the studio’s most recently shared employment figures.
