Disney Dreamlight Valley Jafar’s Laboratory quest guide
When you enter the final act of Rift in Time and step into Jafar’s throne room, ascend the left staircase and proceed down the hall. Eventually, you’ll enter the lab room. Your objective here is to find a golden key to break free from the chains separating you from Jafar. This quest can be divided into three main parts:
- Feeding the raven with bird food.
- Solving the mirror puzzle.
- Claiming the golden key.
Feeding the raven some bird food
Upon entering the laboratory, you’ll notice another mirror and hourglass puzzle, along with a raised platform where a raven is flying around. Talking to the raven reveals that it knows where the key is but is too hungry to share. So, it’s time to make some bird food. By reading the nearby lab book entry, you learn that the recipe requires fresh vegetables and rotten seafood. You’ll also find a table with ingredients, but they’re all ripe. Take the ripe tomato and carrot from the table and exit the menu.
With the tomato and carrot in hand, use the hourglass on the raised platform to transform everything on the table into their rotten counterparts. Now, you have the rotten clam and fish needed for the second half of the recipe. With all four items in your inventory, head to the nearby cauldron and toss them in to create bird food.
After making the bird food, return to the raven to receive a power coil. This isn’t the key to unlocking the chains in the throne room yet, but it’s a crucial item for the puzzle below. Descend the stairs to begin.
Solving the mirror puzzle
Now that you have the power coil, focus on the laboratory’s main puzzle. Insert the power coil into the nearby machine to give it energy, allowing you to rotate the stone panels and mirror. Flip the hourglass to see the stones and mirror move, and then turn the stones until the line reaches the mirror.
From there, rotate the mirror until the reflective side aligns with the button next to the blue door. While it won’t activate immediately, flipping the hourglass again will cause the light to shine on the button, clearing the blue mist and revealing the golden key on the other side.
With the golden key in hand, you can now leave the laboratory, unlock the chains, and face Jafar as part of the Palace of Time’s overarching story.
