Trading Posts or Trade Outposts in No Man’s Sky can be found on planets within all star systems that have lifeforms. These posts serve a multitude of purposes and are a great stopover to buy and sell items through a Galactic Trade Terminal, just like the ones you encounter in Space Stations. Recommended Videos
However, if you need resources in bulk, trading posts might not be very useful as you won’t find as much quantity here as you would at a space station. On the other hand, rarer resources are more likely to be found at a Galactic Trade Terminal here compared to those at a Space Station, and at a more favorable price as well.
With seven Landing Pads available, trading posts can serve as a decent place to go in search of a starship and eventually stumble upon that elusive S-class starship that you may have been tirelessly seeking in the game.

You can discover trading posts by simply exploring a planet and noticing it from a distance, but that’s purely a matter of luck as the planets in No Man’s Sky are extremely vast. A much simpler and more efficient way is to install an Economy Scanner in your starship, which allows you to access the quick menu while in the starship to locate a nearby trading post on the planet.
There are other methods to find a trading post, but the Economy Scanner is the only guaranteed way to pinpoint them. If you can’t build an Economy Scanner, you can use a Planetary Chart (inhabited outpost) or a Signal Booster, but both will provide information about any type of structure, making it a trial-and-error approach.
One more sneaky tip: Sometimes, you might find starships in a planet’s atmosphere that aren’t heading towards space. If you follow these starships, they could also lead you to a trading post.
