Mario’s younger brother has made a move and seized the grandest Nintendo Switch launch of 2019 – even more significant than Super Mario Maker 2 and Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 landed in the second position on the chart this week, trailing behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, yet it undoubtedly constitutes a success for Nintendo.
The physical sales during the launch week are more than twice those of the 3DS predecessor Luigi’s Mansion 2 – and that doesn’t take into account Nintendo’s now robust share of digital sales, which the company detailed to investors last week.
One note about Luigi’s Mansion 3 sales is that it had an additional day on sale compared to Mario Maker 2 and Link’s Awakening, as it was launched to align with Halloween on Thursday, instead of the conventional Friday release. However, there’s no questioning the quality of the game.
