Details of an unannounced sequel to Aliens Fireteam Elite seem to have surfaced on the internet.
Based on an unconfirmed report on Reddit – so, as usual, take this with a grain of salt for the time being – the third-person co-op shooter, codenamed Project Macondo, “is a fresh chapter in the Aliens: Fireteam Elite” and is anticipated to be released in Q3 2025.
Aimed at “18+ hardcore gamers”, the sequel is set to “enhance the mechanics, ambiance, and thrill” of the original. It’s interesting to note that, unlike its predecessor, it’s rumored that Project Macondo “will come with fixed preset character archetypes and non-customizable characters”. Each of the five archetypes – The Swift, The Deadly, The Silent, The Commander, and The Ranger – is said to have their own distinctive weapons and special abilities.
“Fight through an epic new story campaign with a squad of two AI companions or live players,” the slide – allegedly taken from a 2021 presentation – states.
“Play as members of Dagger Company, a battalion of spec-op Xenomorph hunters, each equipped with unique abilities and weapons. Engage in a wide range of gameplay scenarios, including NPC interactions, alternative paths, navigational challenges, and clue hunting.”
